The Complete Leader is about unlocking your potential and driving a higher level of engagement, balance and performance. In each episode, we'll be chatting to thinkers, leaders and game-changers to untangle the complexities that inevitably arise as part of high-pressure corporate environments.
On this episode of Complete Leader, I’m talking to Dr. Larry Rosen, the Professor Emeritus at California State University, where he was also previously Chair of the Psychology Department. His resume boasts accolades as a research psychologist, computer educator and keynote speaker who deals mainly with the psychology behind technology and the way that technology is impacting our lives, productivity, relationships and behaviour.
I’m chatting with Professor Larry about how technology creates problems for the psyche in the event of overexposure, as well as what impact it has on work-life balance in an age where employees take their work, and associated pressures, home with them.
Dr. Rosen’s book, The Distracted Mind: Ancient Brains in a High-Tech World, written with Adam Gazzaley, MD, Ph.D., was published by MIT Press and won the 2017 PROSE Award for biomedicine and neuroscience.

Humans take upwards of 20,000 breaths every day, but rarely do we take the time to think about what breathing properly can do for our bodies, energy levels and mental wellbeing. Angelina and Shane Saunders are the founders of Breathe Me, a health and wellness business that teaches individuals to control their own personal energy and mindset using breathing techniques. In this episode, Melinda chats to Angelia and Shane about the importance of breathing throughout stressful work situations, high pressure jobs, and how to use your breaths to bring out the best version of yourself.
To kick off our second episode, we’re chatting with Catriona Dixon, the “Top Bird” behind Toothless Parrot Communications, an organisation which works with Australian leaders to foster exceptional communication, media management, public speaking and corporate writing. From working with Westfield to Uber, Facebook, Expedia, Apple, Amazon and an enormous list of other celebrated global companies, Catriona has mastered the concept of confident communications and preparing leaders for professional presentation on the public stage.
We talk to Catriona about how much of leadership is natural and how much can be taught, how high-level leaders best deliver those hard messages, networking and effective communications across the board
In the first episode of the Complete Leader podcast, we talk with David Fodor, the Financial Services industry lead for Amazon Web Services and long-time ambassador for Movember. You may notice a few more moustaches than usual this month, as growing a ‘mo’ is one of Movember’s signature movements that attempts to raise the awareness necessary to change the face of men’s health in Australia and beyond. Movember is the world’s largest charity for men’s health, tackling challenges from prostate cancer to mental health and suicide prevention. As a long term friend of the charity, David sat down with us to talk all things men’s health, mental wellbeing and high-level corporate life.
