You’d be amazed at the changes a focussed 90 minute strategy session with a qualified executive coach can initiate. And it doesn’t take a huge investment in time or money to see whether this could be the optimum solution for you. In fact, it’s probably no more than the cost of a couple of reasonably priced business shirts (or blouses).
Executive coaching is increasing in popularity as more senior people and organisations realise the benefits it can deliver.
In a 90 minute strategy session you and your coach will assess your situation, identify issues that affect you – these can include work people or processes or other factors influencing your happiness, productivity and general enjoyment of life.
Then you might drill down into some of them and identify strategies to address them. Or, you could spend some time looking at where you are and why. Many of us find ourselves in situations largely due to factors outside our control, rather than the result of implementing a personal career strategy. Executive coaching can help align your current position more closely with your personal goals – and identify paths to achieve them.
But it all has to start somewhere. And in this case it’s a 90 minute strategy session. It will probably take a maximum of two hours of your time. Fifteen minutes to complete a pre-session questionnaire, 90 minutes for the session and then another 15 minutes or so – some personal thinking time, or discussions with your stakeholders (significant other or friendly employer) to determine your next steps.
Some people find the initial session is enough to get them focussed and motivated to achieve what they wish to, others see the value in continuing to develop a personal executive coaching program.
In any case, the decision is yours. And when it could affect the rest of your career and the bigger picture of life – all for the price of a shirt or blouse or two, what have you got to lose?
